AMBULANCE TO BE DEDICATED

Annual Parade Of St. John Brigade

A new ambulance for the use in Christchurch city will be dedicated by the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. , Warren), who is a SubChaplain of the Order of St. John. 1’ • ? annual inspection of the Chnstchurch Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade to be held °n Sunday at Cranmer square. The ambulance, which has been presented by the Women’s Auxiliary of the St. John Ambulance Association, will be accepted by Mr J. H. Rhodes. Knight of Justice of the Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem and chairman of the Canterbury and Westland Centre of the Canterbury St. John Ambulance Association. Before the arrival of the ambulance, members of the brigade, about 200 men, 200 women. 300 ambulance cadets .(boys) and 300 nursing cadets (girls) will assemble in their respective divisions at 2 p.m. About 20 minutes later, the Chief Commissioner of the Brigade in New Zealand (Brigadier J. M. Mitchell) will arrive to inspect the divisions, accompanied by the District Commissioner (Dr. W. Gordon Rich). Presentation of Colours About 3 p.m. the consecration and presentation of the Christchurch Corps colours will be held. They will be consecrated also by Bishop Warren, with the Chief Commissioner formally presenting the colours to the corps. After Brigadier Mitchell’s address, the colours will be paraded before the assembled units of the brigade. The presentation of Grand Prior Cadet badges and competitions trophies will be held after the parade, before the arrival of the ambulance. The ceremony will last about two hours. If tne weather is wet it will be held in the King Edward Barracks. Musical items will be presented by the band of the First Battalion of the Canterbury Regiment by courtesy of the Commanding Officer.
