DOG BURIED IN SECTION
Explanation Given By Dunedin Man (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN. December 3. The Christchurch dog mysterv has been solved. The mystery arose when the keeper at the Ensors road crossing saw two men kneeling in long grass on a spare section near the crossing. Investigating, he found a newly-dug earth grave decorated by a dozen red roses. He promptly got the help of two detectives to excavate the grave, which was found to contain the body of a dog. What was the dog doing there” How was it killed? Whv did it deserve the red roses, and why did not the two men who buried it tell the authorities what had really happened as soon as they knew the police had been called in? These questions were answered by one of the burial party in Dunedin today. The dog had..been run over near the crossing and was a “bit of a mess.” So. happening to have 8 spade in their car and being public-spirited citizens, the two men decided to bury the animal. Having done so they noticed some roses blooming handily and picked some for the grave, “just as a joke.”
