French Pupils At Nelson Schools
(New Zealaaa Press Association) NELSON. December 3. Under a privately arranged exchange three French children are now attending classes at the two Nelson colleges. Next year three Nelson pupils will have an opportunity of returning the visit when they attend classes at College La Perouse in Noumea for about five weeks.
Arrangements for tne exchange have been made by Miss M. On. of the Nelson College for Girls, who will accompany The Nelson children on their outward journey when they go to New Caledonia next May.
The three French children arrived in Nelson last Friday morning. They are Yvette Berre, aged 18. Danielle Pellegrin, aged 15, and Christian Pellegrin, aged 13. They will spend the last fortnight of this term at the two 'Nelson colleges. More than a holiday visit is envisaged; it is hoped that it will not only develop language ability and knowledge of French culture but will also foster an understanding of* the French people through direct experience of school life and family life.
