Leslie Henson Dead, Aged 66
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright/ IXJNDON, December 2. The goggle-eyed, frog-voiced British comedian, Leslie Henson, who had kept audiences laughing fot 47 years, died today at the age of 66. Mr Henson—still rehearsing for stage and television shows after two heart attacks —collapsed al his*house in Middlesex. He was to have appeared next Friday in the British Broadcasting Corporation’s television serial version of “Nicholas Nickleby,” and was rehearsing the part of Widow Twankey for the Christmas pantomime “Aladdin” at Windsor. Mr Henson started out as a genie in an amateur “Aladdin" show while still a boy. He took his first professional job with a touring company at £3 a week in 1910. He became a producing manager as well as actor, and shared credits for top- shows like "Tons df Money,” and "It Pays to Advertise.” During World War II Mr Henson was co-organiser of artists’ shows for the troops, and visited nearly every war theatre.
