Lizards Were Left £1400 In Will

DURBAN (South Africa). Every time one of seven lizards dies, a Durban man gets £2oo— so far four have died in the last seven years. The other three “can live for many years yet,” according to officials of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The lizards were pets of Mrs F. T. Kellet. In her will she left £l4OO to the reptiles, and directed that as each lizard died, her husband, Colonel F. T. Kellet, should get that lizard’s share of the bequest. The lizards were put in the care of officials of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The cost of maintaining the lizards does not come out of the bequest but from a separate provision in Mrs Kellet’s will.

Mrs Kellet acquired the lizards in Egypt while her husband was in charge of a prisoner-of-war camp there in the last war. She became attached to them and brought them to South Africa after the war.—Reuter.

Woman 128 Years Old.—An African, woman. Bulagwa Mboye, who is believed to be 128 years old is still living in the Mwanza district of Tanganyika’s Lake Province at Bukwarde village. She was found by a census taker who by questioning discovered that she had been born during the Arab regime in Tanganyika. Bulagwa had ten children—seven sons and three daughters—and four sons and one daughter are alive today. Her eldest son is believed to be about 93 years old. The old lady’s vision is dim and she has difficulty is standing upright. She has a flock of grandchildren who own most of the local farms and care f on her.—Dar-es-Salaam.
