GROUND TESTING THE CONTROLS OF THE COMET AIRLINER.—The complete flyingcontrol system of the new Comet IV Jet airliner being tested on a full-scale ground rig at Hatfield, England. The functioning of elevator, aileron, rudder, airbrake and flap circuits is proved under all normal flight and emergency conditions. Besides functional proving, there is a programme of endurance testing by the makers of the new Comet.
