MILK INDUSTRY’S FUTURE
Executive Predicts Buyer’s Market
(New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, Nov. 28.
In the recent past, the milk industry in New Zealand had enjoyed a seller’s market, but unless steps were taken to sustain the demand, he would not be surprised if there were a buyer’• market within a few years, said Mr R. B. Stonex, general manager of the Auckland milk treatment station, in the course of an address in Palmerston North.
Quoting the recent criticism by three Napier doctors of the value of milk as a food, Mr Stonex said: “These men represent a large section of enlightened opinion in the medical profession, and the sooner we in the industry sit up and take notice, the better.” Mr Stonex urged the need for education of the public to the merits of milk in dny form as a food. He advocated full use of the New Zealand Publicity Council in putting the merits of milk before the public.
