BRITAIN TO STOP COAL IMPORTS

The British Government hoped to be able to stop importing coal and thus save £43 000.000 a year, including £25.000.000 paid in <Wlars to the United States, said Mr David Renton, Parliamentary Secretary for Power, in the House of Commons. No further imports had been authorised beyond the existing contracts and the Coal Board was working out arrangements for meeting the deficiency in future from home supplies, he said.
