BURNSIDE

(New Zealand. Press Association) DUNEDIN, November 27. Prices for fat wethers and fat cattle were easier at the Burnside sale today. Fat steers eased £2 a head, while heifers and cows were easier by £1 to £2. Hoggets and wethers were back 5s to 6s. Lambs sold freely at scheduled rates. Ewes were firm on last week. Best quality ox beef averaged 128 s to 1325, and for the heavy prime sorts 118 s to 1255. In the fat sheep offering, the number was smaller than last week, about 2200 being penned. The market was weaker, showing a drop of 5s to 6s in the value of fat wethers and hoggets. Ewes, which were in shorter supply, showed little or no alteration from the previous week. Young ewes were also in fairly good demand, and only the older and poorer class ewes had poorer competition. The yarding was made up generally of mixed class, with a fair number of aged wethers. An offering of 156 spring lambs included many pens of good quality, with only a small number of average and plainer sorts. Bidding was keen from the different buyers, and prices appeared to be well up to scheduled rates.
