Obituary DR. D. M. LOGAN
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. Nov. 18. I Dr. Douglas Masson Logan died at his residence. Cowper street. Greymouth, on Sunday night after a long illness Dr. Logan was born in Dunedin 50 years ago. and. after a brilliant scholastic and athletic career at the Otago Boys’ High School, he entered the Oiago University Medical School. Dr Logan was a house surgeon a! the Wellington Public Hospital, after which he was in private practice in Karamca and Murchison. He was appointed surgeon at the Greymouth Hospital nearly 20 years ago. and when Dr N. F. G censlade left, he was appointed medical superintendent. In recent years Dr. Logan was in private practice. Dr. Logan look a keen interest •in sporting and social activities, land he was an honorary surgeon ito a number of district organisations. He was a member of the | Masonic Lodge Lazar. : Dr. Logan is survived by his (wife, one son. and two daughters. Prince Hal Dead.— Prince Hal. the globetrotting champion show jumping horse, has died at the age of 15. it was revealed today. The massive chestnut gelding, which carried his owner. Miss Pat Smythe, to victories in Spain. Portugal. France. Holland. I Sweden. the United States and j Canada. and finally to the women’s European show jumping ! championship in Brussels this I year, died on November 8 of {complications after a chill. Miss Smythe bought Prince Hal for £l5O in 1951.—Stroud (Gloucesj I tershire), November 18. f
