High-Speed Economy Trial

[From the London Correspondent of "The Press”] LONDON, November 9. A New Zealander, Miss Billie Brickman, aged 33, acted as codriver with Richard Pape, the exR.A.F. pilot, author and adventurer, on a 6000-mile high-speed economy trial in a Hillman Minx car across Canada and the United States recently. In this dash Pape and Miss Brickman maintained an average speed of 55 miles an hour and an average petrol consumption of 35.7 miles to the gallon. Pape’s latest trip is reported to have aroused considerable interest in America, and at every stage of the journey down to Miami, in Florida, both he and Miss Brickman, to whom he has dedicated his latest book “Sequel to Boldness,” have been interviewed for radio and television.
