DRUNK IN CHARGE OF HORSE
Gisborne Drover Fined
(New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE, November 14. “I sbppose the best way to punish him is to make him pay,” said Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Gisborne Magistrate’s Court today when imposing costs and fines totalling £2B 2s 6d on Edward Graeme Lyons, aged 54. a drover, who was found drunk in charge of a horse at Matawhero on Tuesday. Lyons admitted four charges arising out of the incident. Lyons was fined £5 for being drunk while in charge of a horse —his second offence of this nature. £lO for using obscene language. £5 for resisting a constable and on a further charge of wilfully damaging a pair of police uniform trousers was ordered to pay compensation amounting to £4 2s 6d.
