Canterbury Trials Next Year

Next year the Canterbury collie dog championship trials are to be conducted by the Geraldine Collie Dog Club. This was reported by the club’s delegate (Mr T. T Ritchie, sen.) to the annual meeting of the club. He said that the Canterbury association had been unanimous that Geraldine should conduct these trials in 1958.

Reporting on a successful year, the president (Mr T. T. Ritchie, jun.) thanked Messrs P. Evans and T. T. Ritchie, sen., for the use of the grounds for the trials’, the judges, and all who had assisted with the running of the club affairs He mentioned the success of the new office on the grounds for the secretary and the valuable work of the Peel Forest Red Cross sub-centre with the catering arrangements' and the work of Mr L. Bell towards the new luncheon rooms that would be a great value to the club.

It was agreed that entries for the trials close on April 10 and that no post entries be inserted in the schedule.

It was agreed to forward a remit to the Canterbury association that, in order to give judges a more even spread of duties, clubs asked to submit the names of three judges, for every one necessary at their annual trials.

It was agreed that four standard events be run on the programme and that district dogs entered in the open maiden and district event which had not won • first prize in any event to receive a special prize for first and second placings

Officers elected were: president Mr T. T. Ritchie; senior vicepresident. Mr B. Baker; junior vice-president, Mr H. Scott: delegates. Messrs T T. Ritchie and 'I Riddell: shepherds. Messrs F Pratt P Evans. T T. Ritchie iun.. and J Cunningham: judicial committee, president, vice-presi-dents and secretary; secretary. Mr Riddell, assistant secretary.
