Girls’ High School P.T.A.
The Christchurch Girls High School Parent-Teacher Association has held two meetings recently. Mr W J. A. Brittenden presided at the October meeting when a panel of six discussed “Interesting careers for girls”—Mrs L. Boyes (vocational guidance); Miss M. Enright (journalism); Miss M. Eales (bacteriology); Miss R. Woodsford ‘air hostesses); Mrs D Sergei (police women); and Mr J. G. Laurenson (secretarial). At the November meeting Mr G. Fairhall, a public health officer, addressed the parents. Two films dealing with food poisoning and handling of food were seen. Mr A. Mackay presided.
An entertaining programme was presented at the sunshine corner of the Christchurch Pensioners’ ! Association recently in the Pensioners’ Memorial Hall. Worcester street. Among the artists were: Colleen Pawsey (vocal), Rosemary Hewstone (song and tap dance), Gwen and Norman Wheeler (vocal). Rosemary Hewstone and Jim Donohue (piano-accordions). Mrs Lottie Duckworth was the pianist.
