Lookaway Selected To Win N.Z. Free-For-All

The New Zealand Cup winner, Lookaway, looks set for another win in the New Zealand Free-for-all, the main race for pacers on the third day of the cup meeting at Addington today. The race has drawn a large field, but a number of the acceptors look to be well out of their depth in this company.

Lookaway will only need average luck to take a prominent part in the finish, but he will not have things as easy as he did on Tuesday. Caduceus. probably the fastest sprinter in commission. is certain to extend him to the fullest and their race should be the highlight of the meeting. Lookaway will be bracketed with Derive, a disappointment so far at the meeting. while Caduceus will be bracketed with the fine pacer False Step, which unfortunately has drawn the second line. Trueco showed that be was rapidly recapturing his best form when third in the Ollivier Handicap yesterday. He should again be hard to beat. Tactician. Adorian and General Sandy are other capable sprinters. Dignus will probably be favourite for the first leg of the double, the Australasian Handicap. He has not been out of the money this season and his win yesterday was achieved in grand style. He stays strongly and looks a great prospect. Invicta paced a sound race yesterday and he would probably show more improvement than most in the event. He looks the pick of the horses on the front. Super Royal, which will be bracketed with Derive, finished a sound fourth in her race on Tuesday. She stays strongly and must be respected. Lady Belmer. Light Nurse and Prince Polka are other possibilities, but Dignus. Invicta and Super Royal appeal most.
