WATCHING SHEEP JUDGING
Australian Judge’s Suggestion
Mr Murray Thomas, of Clare. South Australia, who judged the Merinos at the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show, believes that facilities for .judges handling Merinos and for spectators watching judging at the Show Grounds might be improved. “In such a magnificent shed as you have here, surely provision could be made for interested spectators to view the judging in comfort and for better facilities for the judges.” he said.
Mr Thomas produced photographs of a judging ring in Adelaide. It is one of three similar rings at Adelaide. About 18 judges can operate at the one time in comfort and at the same time there is accommodation for about 1000 spectators.
“It is a wonderful idea for encouraging the younger generation to become interested in the finer points of sheepbreeding.” hr said.
