NEW MILK BOTTLES HEAVIER
Efforts To Reduce Breakages
Slightly heavier pint and half pint milk bottles of the new type introduced last year are now being produced and it is hoped that the additional ounce of glass involved will help to reduce breakages to a minimum.
This is the result of discussions between the manufacturers and a committee set up by the NewZealand Federation of Milk Treatment Stations to investigate complaints about the high percentage of milk bottle breakages.
Artillery Officers’ Mess
An Artillery Officers’ Mess may be formed in Christchurch after the setting-up of an interim committee of artillery officers at a meeting in Christchurch last evening to examine such a possibility.
The aim of the new mess, if formed, will be to establish a social meeting ground for artillery officers in Canterbury where luncheons, evening meetings, and other social functions could b«' held, including possibly an annual dinner and ball. The organisation would attempt to foster the spirit of the now- defunct Gunner Association.
The following interim com mittee was elected: —
Major J. R. Spence (secretary). Major B. Fisher-Betts. Major C. T. M. Hardy. Lieutenant T. G. Martin. Lieutenant C. C. Stewart, and Lieutenant G. Macfarlane.
