Visit To N.A.C. Workshops

A party of members of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce will be taken on a tour of the National Airways Corporation’s engineering headquarters and workshops at the Christchurch airport next Tuesday evening.

The guests will be welcomed by Mr E. T. Beaven, a director of the corporation, and the local manager (Mr J. E. Davies) and shown over the workshops in small groups. After seeing the corporation’s film. “Skyway South.” they will have the engineering organisation explained to them by Mr A. J. Smaill, the chief maintenance engineer, and two of his senior officers.

Telephone Message to Save Suicides. — Frankfurt., like a number of other larger towns in West Germany, has started a “telephone service for would-be suicides.” Dial Frankfurt 55-55-36. and a voice will answer your questions, advise you on vour problems, and exhort you not to lose hope. The service was organised by a Catholic charitable organisation. The caller is not asked to give him name. Doctors, psychologists, men of learning, lawyers and priests are on call day and night for the service.— Frankfurt.
