ATHLETIC PRODIGY

Canterbury has a young athletic prodigy whose performances at the long jump are even more startling that those of the Olympic representative Miss Eeverley Weigel at the same age.

When the Toe H Club conducted a series of events for primary school children at Rugby Park last Saturday 12-year-old Rosemarie Russell jumped 15ft lin. In the afternoon the women’s A grade long jump in the interclub events was won at 15ft 44in. Rosemarie has been a member of the Toe H club for two seasons now and has been competing in sprints and jumps at the Saturday afternoon meetings.
