Might-Flying Noise

Sir, —I should like to know if it is absolutely necessary to have four hours straight for night flying practice. The never-ending drone is not sleep-inducing (last night, for example). The odd plane or train is not so disturbing. Why not 10 o’clock close-down, and if four hours must be done on the same night make the other two before daylight. The milk, bread, and paper men and many others who are necessary to all, would get a little better rest before midnight (when they tell us, it does most good).—Yours, etc.. CASHMERE. October 1, 1957. [Group Captain T. J. M. de Lange, commanding officer of the Royal New Zealand Air Force station. Wigram. had no comment to make on this letter.]
