Prospect For Addington Dignus showed he would win races at the New Zealand Trotting Cup meeting when he led throughout the Canterbury Park Club Handicap at yesterday’s cup trials at Addington. He finished full of running and recorded the smart time of 3min 28 l-ssec for the mile and five furlongs, the last half-mile in Imin 0 3-ssec. and the last quarter in 30 2-ssec. Dignus is engaged on 24 yards in the two-mile Spring Handicap at Addington on Tuesday and it will be surprising if he fails to take a prominent part in the finish Glint, a candidate for the same race, was in second place throughout yesterday’s race and she was two lengths from Dignus at the post. She has not won a race so far this season, but her * luck should change at Addington. He finished boldly and should win a race at the cup meeting. Blue Jay covered extra ground early and was a length behind Fourth Edition in third place, a neck in front of Dryden Lad. Phantasy pulled hard most -of the way and was not extended to finish fifth, ahead of the fast-finishing Gat Cobra, with Royal Minstrel. Loyal Cis. Reason Why and Upward clear of the remainder The leaders paced their last haltmile in Imin 0 4-ssec. the last quarter in 30sec Night Reveller in Form Night Reveller, which will race next in the New Zealand Metropolitan Challenge Stakes on the Second day of the cup meeting, recorded a pleasing trial when he beat a good field of improvers in the Burke and Co. Handicap Gold Cloud took the lead with just over one mile and a quarter left Aksarben and Golden Hero were on terms with Gold Cloud racing to the straight, with Warren Grattan. Arnhem. Night Reveller, and Starwise almost in line next, followed by Adoration Starwise finished on for fifth, ahead of Arnhem, which dropped back near the two. Golden Hero, and Adoration Maxwelton broke at the start. The leaders paced their last halfmile in Imin 2sec. the last quarter in 31 2-ssec. Air Command’s Trial i Air Command did best of the I horses engaged in the Introductory Handicap on Tuesday by finishing I second to Manana in the Rollins Breweries Handicap. Manana was I eliminated from the Introductory Handicap, hut will be eligible for races on the later days of the meeting Medetta. which was not knocked about over the last furlong, was finishing on well in fifth place, ahead of Dan’s Choice.
