First Meeting Of Commission

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. November 6. The Royal Commission on Local Authority Finance held a preliminary meeting in Parliament Buildings today to decide its method of approach to the problem. Sir Joseph Stanton is president of the commission, and the other members are Messrs W. H. Master, C. J. Lovegrove, and W. R. Beattie. The commission will not sit publicly until February, although submissions are to be called soon from all local authorities and their associations. Government departments and other interested parties. The commission wants as many submissions in as soon as possible before February 10. when it will hold another preliminary meeting. [The public sittings, probably in the four main centres, will begin shortly after.
