NEW HOUSE AT “GRETA PADDOCK” FOR MANAGER

When in his retirement, the former Prime Minister, Sir Sidney Holland, comes from Wellington to visit his farm, “Greta Paddock.” North Canterbury, he and Lady Holland will continue to live in what is known as the shearers’ quarters. A modern V-shaped bungalow has been built on an open sunny face near the southern boundary of “Greta Paddock,” overlooking the Main North road. The decorating is nearly finished, a “National” blue colour being predominant in the exterior scheme. The bungalow will be occupied by Mr Holland’s farm manager. “I have a good farm and a good manager and I am putting money back into the property,” said Sir Sidney Holland yesterday, when he was telephoned by a reporter of “The Press.” Sir Sidney Holland said he and Lady Holland and other members of their family would not be the occupants of the new house. He was content to continue to live in the, shearers' quarters, in which some slight conversions to make

it a farm camp home were carried out soon after he and Mr W. S. Goosman bought “Greta Paddock.” The quarters are spacious and comfortable, but not elaborate. The next visit to the farm by Sir Sidney and Lady Holland will be at Christmas. They intend to spend a month to six weeks therfe and, having retired from politics, he proposes to make more frequent and longer visits to the property than have been possible in the last 17 years. Every day now, Sir Sidney Holland dresses in the morning, has lunch, and returns to his bed in the middle of the afternoon. His health, he said he was pleased to say, had improved and he was looking forward to his visit this week-end to Rotorua.
