E. H. Richards Scores

Century

A feature of the third round of the Malvern Cricket Association’s competitions was a fine century scored for United by E. H. Richards. Richards's score of 106 not out was made in his usual brisk style. Richards also bowled well, taking three South Malvern wickets. For Sheffield. A. F. Wright (92) and D. Deans (55) scored 143 for the fourth wicket. An opening partnership of 125 fnr Darfield seniors was made by T. McGowan and R. Gunn. The best bowling performance was that of J. Adams, the Greendale left-arm leg spinner, who took all nine wickets which fell for 74 runs. All matches were affected by rain late in the afternoon. The match between United and South Malvern was stopped early. Scores were:— United 207 for nine declared (E. H. Richards 106 not out. J. Rich 33. G. T. Wright 22; O. Stuart five for 36) drew with South Malvern 61 for three (R. Stuart 30 not out; E. Richards three for 9). Sheffield 233 for nine declared (A. F. Wright 92, D. Deans 55, G. E Wright 24, R. Skurr 32 not out; D. Gunn two for 28, B. R. Taggart two for 30. Pinsey two for 59, J. Gunn two for 49) drew with Darfield juniors 132 for five (D. Gunn 49. B. Pinsey 15, G. Loe 32. B. Levine 23 not out; C. Croy three for 42, B. Jenkins two for 10). Darfield seniors 211 for nine declared (T. McGowan 92, R. Gunn 49. K. Jarman 42 not. out; J. Adams nine for 74) drew with Greendale, 145 for eight (S. Kay 39, C. Adams 50, G. Shipley 21 not out; R. Gunn two for 34, G. Cuming three for 27).
