SATURDAY FIRES

Little Damage Caused Christchurch fire brigades were called to several minor fires on Saturday, but no serious damage was caused in any of them. The first call was at 12.13 p.m.. when units from the Centra) and St Albans fire slation attended a fence fire at 156 Rossall street, the property of E Wadsworth Only slight damage was done. At 2.12 p.m units from the Central and Sydenham fire stations were called to a hedge fire at 117 Somerfield street, a property occupied by Mr H G Goldsmith There was no damage. A rubbish fire at 1156 Langdon’s road, the property of T G. Morrison. at 853 p.m.. was put out before it caused damage. Extensive damage was caused to a motor-cycle, the property of Bernard Crossen. when it caught fire in Gloucester street. Units from the Central fire station attended the fire, at 10.52 p.m.. and soon brought it under control The fire was believed to have been caused by a back-fire. There were no calls yesterday
