PARACHUTE AND AIR DISPLAY
Parachuting. gliding. model aeroplane flying and acrobatics are on a programme which will be held at the Ashburton aerodrorpe next Sunday under the auspices of the Christchurch Parachute Club and the Mid-Canter-bury branch of the Canterbury Aero Club.
Parachutists will jump simultaneously from three Tiger Moths in a formation jump; about five parachutists will jump from a Dominie in a stick jump; there will be a parachute supply drop to a parachutist; Miss Valerie Lowen, a woman parachutist, will make a solo jump; and it is hoped that Mr G. A. Blanchard, instructor to the Manawatu Parachute Club, will make a delayed jump using his steerable “blank gore’’ parachute. Static line parachutes will be mainly used but there will also be jumps with hipcord parachut.es. There will be model aeroplane flying; gliding by aircraft of the Canterbury Gliding Club; and aerobatics by aircraft. Aeroplanes will go to the display from Timaru, Christchurch and Queenstown.
