YOUNG WIVES’ GROUPS
Explanation Of Aims
The object of Young Wives’ Groups was discussed by Mrs R. P. Plaistowe (Timaru) yesterday at lhe conference for leaders of the Mothers' Union.
The aim of the movement was to train young women to be more loving and understanding wives, wiser and happier mothers, she [said. It had been started to reach out to those outside the church and bring them into the ‘‘light of the church.” when they were ready. The movement started during World War I to help to stabilise moral standards and gained impetus during World War 11, when social conditions changed rapidly again. The groups presented a wide variety of programmes to interest members.
“These young women are getting a tremendous amount of help from the Mothers’ Union, the parent body, members of which set out to help them in every way. with affection and pride.” Mrs Plaistowe said. During the morning session Mrs S. Woods gave a talk on the father's place in the home and the factors which influenced him.
