SHIPPING OF NEW SEASON’S MEAT
Mr Ormond’s Advice To Farmers (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 30. Freezing works handling the first of the new season’s export meat production were now opening, and there was a prospect of a large tonnage of meat for export, said Mr J. D. Ormond chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, today. It was therefore desirable to get shipments away early. Meat operators had announced their opening schedule prices, and two ships had been arranged to take the first lambs to the United Kingdom to arrive before Christmas. It was in the producers’ and everyone’s interest that those who were in a position to do so should get stock to the works at the earliest opportunity. Mr Ormond said that the first two ships with new season’s meat would be the Port Wellington, leaving Napier on November 9, and Auckland on November 16, and the Canadian Star, leaving Wellington on November 14.
