PROPOSAL TO INCREASE LOSING RIDING FEES

A proposal to increase losing riding fees by 10s will come before delegates at the next annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conferenc'-* in July. 1958 The executive committee of the conference will spor sor a notice of motion to this effect as a result of rep .esentations made by the New Zealand Jockeys’ Association for an increase in riding fees. The last increase was made m 1951. The executive committee has recommended to all clubs which have jumping races on their programmes to pad the three posts supporting the rail running past each jump with straw or sponge rubber and a laced canvas covering The object of this move is for the protection of jockeys of fallen horses.

Other notices of motion which the executive committee will sponsor at the next annua] meeting relate to the valuation of overseas winnings of horses and the dates of spring meetings where the winter minimum of 8-0 is involved.
