New Shoes For High Jump
Australian athletes are now using the new style of take-off shoe which experts believe adds height to the leaps of high jumpers. The shoe has already been worn in Sydney inter-club meetings. Permission for athletes to use the revolutionary “sprung heel’’ in high jumping competitions this season had been given by the Amateur Athletic Association of New South Wales. The association claims there is no rule to prevent the use of the new style shoe which has an elevated sole. The idea of having such a shoe originated in Russia and was introduced at the Moscow Youth Festival.
