Mental Hospital Rebellion Ends

‘Rer. 11 p.m.) MEDICAL LAKE (Washington). October 29 Rebellious inmates who today seized control of the maximum security building at the Eastern State Mental Hospital agreed tonight to surrender and free about 30 hostages, if assured publicly that the current treatment programme at the hospital would not be continued.

Dr. Garrett Heyns. State Director of Institutions, agreed to the demands and then drove 15 miles to Spokane in a State patrol rar for a dramatic radio broadcast ion a station the inmates desigjna.ed. They said they would be ! listening and would give up when | Dr. Heyns got back to the hosi pital.
