NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDER ADOPTING BY-LAWS. PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that by virtue and in pursuance of the powers and authority vested in it by the Counties Act, 1956, the Heathcote County Council at a Special Meeting convened for the purpose, and held in the County Office on Friday October 25, 1957, did pass the following resolution:— That the following by a by-law of the Heathcote County Council, the short title of which shall be “Heathcote County Council By-law No. 1, 1957.”

1— No person shall light a fire in the open air or in any drum or container within 20 feet of any building, hedge or wooden fence, and no fire shall be of greater size than one cubic yard, unless a special permit is obtained from 1 the Council or its authorised officer or the Chief Fire Officer of the Christchurch Fire Brigade. No permit being required for a fire of one cubic yard or less. 2 A responsible person shall be in attendance from the lighting of a fire until such fire is completely extinguished, including any live ashes that remain. 3 No fire shall be lighted or permitted to remain alight between the hours of sunset and sunrise of the following day. 4 No person shall light any fire during a period when the lighting of fires has been prohibited owing to increased fire hazards. 5 This By-law shall apply to the whole of the County of Heathcote. 6 Any person committing a breach of any provision of this By-law shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £lO. or when the breach Is a continuing one, then to a fine not exceeding £5 for each day during which such breach continues. The above resolution will be submitted for confirmation at an Ordinary Meeting of the Council to be held in the Countv Office. 178 Manchester street. Christchurch, on Friday.
