Engines Of Coastel Ship Fail

(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 28. The Northern Steamship Company’s 739-ton vessel, Maranui, lay at anchor in Victoria Channel opposite Sawyers Bay for more than an hour yesterday morning when her engines failed. The ship was towed into Dunedin by the harbour board tug, Otago. A representative of the company, Mr D. L. Millar, said today that the ship was towed in to prevent it from drifting over the sand bar with the tide. Only minor repairs were needed, and the ship, which had sailed direct from Auckland, would not be delayed in Dunedin by the engine stoppage.
