Majority Verdicts For Juries
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PERTH, October 28. Majority jury verdicts have been adopted in Western Australia —in criminal and civil cases —except when an offence involves the death penalty. A bill passed by Parliament provides for verdicts by a majority of 10 out of 12 in criminal cases, and five out of six in civil cases Majority verdicts, however, will be accepted only after a jury has deliberated for three hours.
