VETERANS’ HOME INQUIRY
Approach To Prime Minister
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. October 27. Although a public inquiry into allegations of harsh treatment oi inmates of the Ranfurly Veterans’ Home at Mount Roskill is to be conducted by Mr J. H. Luxfora,
at the invitation of the Veterans’
Home Board, the South African War Veterans’ Association has acted independently and has asked the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) to institute an inquiry. The association secretary, Mr A. G. Bertram, has written to Mr Holyoake but has had no reply yet. “I informed the Prime Minister, that we had some sensational
evidence that has not been made public yet,” Mr Bertram said “There is much dissatisfaction: with the administration and con-1 duct of the home.” Fourteen members of the association live there. The president of the association (Mr F. H. Wilkinson) said the •ssociation would be pleased to give evidence at any inquiry authorised by the Prime Minister.
