BRITISH SAILORS’ SOCIETY

Senior Chaplain Visits Lyttelton The Rev. R. W. Phillips, of London. senior chaplain of the British Sailors’ Society, was present at a meeting of the Lyttelton branch of the society at the King George V Institute at Lyttelton on Monday evening. He was welcomed by the president. Mr Wallace C. Keetley. who gave an outline of the work of the society overseas. The report stated that 672 officers and men had made use of the institute during the month and had been entertained with films, dancing and recreational activities. Books had been distributed to 17 ships. A tender for the erection of a chapel at the Institute was accepted and work is expected to commence at an early date.
