Federation To Meet At Lake Coleridge
The Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes will (hold its half-yearly meeting on (Thursday at Lake Coleridge, the [federation’s most remote institute. ’About 200 delegates from institutes within the Canterbury federation are expected to attend. ■ The report to be presented to (the meeting gives an indication of the extensive work this organisation is carrying out for the benefit of country women. Congratulations are extended to the Springfield Country Women’s Institute on attaining 25 years’ service and to Mrs Flynn, one of this institute’s foundation members and now a member of the C.W.I, Centre, on receiving a Good Service Honours badge. The Kirwee institute is also congratulated in the report on reaching 25 years and on its steady achievement during this period. “Sincere and affectionate good washes and congratulations go to Miss Jacobson, of Akaroa, who was presented with a Gold Honours Badge at the Dominion representative council meeting.” says the report. Rooms at 100 Cashel street are being maintained jointly by the Canterbury Federation and the Canterbury East Federation, with a representative committee made up of members of both federations. “The management of the rooms has been working harmoniously and efficiently, with more members making use of them.” says the report. ‘‘Gifts from groups and individual members have added to the comfort and attraction of the rooms.” The housekeeping scheme is also maintained on a joint basis by a committee of members from both federations, the report says.
