ARTHUR’S PASS SECTIONS

Park Board Faced IF ith Shortage

The Lands and Survey Department has more than 30 applications for building sections at Arthurs Pass. But the department has no more land for subdivision in the township and the Railways Department has only limited space there for cottage building. If any further building Is to be done land will have to be taken from the park itself. The Arthur's Pass NJtional Park Board decided at its meeting last week that this problem in further developing the park, should be referred to the National Parks Authority.

The National Parks Authority has agreed to meet the board in December at Arthur's Pass. It Will be the first official visit by the authority since it was constituted under the National Parks Act in 1952.

Another matter to be referred to the authority will be that of access to Temple Basin. The board will also describe to the authority its proposal for an alpine museum at Arthur's Pass. An architect has been instructed to prepare working plans for the museum.
