N.Z. Engineers’ Tour Of Inspection

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 22.

Two senior Ministry of Works engineers. Messrs G. J. Hallewall and J. H. Macky, left Auckland today by air for an eight weeks’ inspection tour of major hydroelectric projects in Canada, the United States, and Australia. Mr Hallewell. who is chief construction engineer at Wellington, is responsible for the overall planning of the £36 million Benmore station.

Mr Macky is in charge of the construction of the three hydroelectric stations now being built on the Waikato river at Atiamuri. Ohakuri, and Waipara. As well as visiting 15 major schemes under construction and at least six completed projects overseas, the engineers will discuss modern techniques and engineering problems.
