CHILD INDECENTLY ASSAULTED

Labourer Gaoled For Three Years

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. October 21.

Telling accused that little children were going to be protected, Mr F. McCarthy. S.M., gaoled Francis Smith, aged 23, labourer, for three years today. He pleaded guilty last week in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court to indecently assaulting a five-year-old girl. Describing Smith’s offence as “very bad” the Magistrate said: ‘‘This little tot, on her way home from school, had your unwelcome attentions thrust upon her. Men who allow their feelings to run riot in this fashion can only expect prison.”
