LOWER GRADES

First-round matches in the Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions were completed on Saturday. Lower grade results were as follows: SECOND GRADE A Technical Old Boys 226 and 168 for eight declared (Henderson 45) beat High School Old Boys 172 (Harper four for 51) and 77 for four on the first innings. Riccarton 162 (Aitken 54. Lyon 42Salt five for 26) and 179 for seven beat Sydenham 76 (Edlin four for 16) and 262 (Cummins 107) by three wickets. Lancaster Park 173 and 30 for none beat Boys' High School 93 and 104 .(Cocks 60) by 10 wickets. Marist 168 and 110 for three (Garforth 55 not out) beat West Christ-church-University 120 and 153 (Blades 46; Stevenson five for 38) by seven wickets. SECOND GRADE B West Christchurch-University 134 (Young 45) and 161 (Smith 59; Beadel five for 26) beat Old Collegians 129 (Beadel 62; Barnett six for 35) and 113 for an unstated number of wickets (Harman 60) on the first innings. Christ's College 202 (England 621 beat High School Old Boys 75 (Parson four for 20) on the first innings. St. Albans 22.3 and 98 for six beat East Christchurch 173 (Auld 52: Read six for 30) an the first innings. Lancaster Park 273 and 84 for one declared (Keats 44) beat Technical Old Boys 181 (McKenzie four for 17) and 57 for five (McKenzie four for 16) on the first innings. SECOND GRADE C Xavier 172 and 16 for two beat St. Albans 60 and 126 (Hawkins five for 26) by eight wickets. Boys’ High School 179 and 4 for one beat St. Bede's 79 (Reeves five for 14) and 103 (Ryder four for 11. Reeves four for 34) by nine wickets. St. Andrews 276 for eight declared and 51 for five beat West Christchurch-University 190 (Ellis 50) on the first innings. Marist 157 (Guthrie 59 not out; Mallock four for 34) and 70 for seven beat Papanui High School 156 and 119 for five declared (Ruston 41) on the first innings. St. Albans-Teachers’ College 176 for nine (McNichol 42, Plummer 42; Read six for 69) beat Christ's College 172 for nine declared (Reeves 47; Powell four for 39) on the first innings. PRESIDENT’S GRADE Old Collegians 114 for four beat Technical Old Boys 107 on the first innings. Marist 88 (D. Empson 56 not out; H. Escott seven for 33) beat High School Old Boys 58 (V. Empson six lor 31) on the first innings. Sydenham 155 for five (Reid 60) beat Riccarton 133 (Frew 57; Reid six for 39) on the first innings. Lancaster Park A 108 lor three (Withers 62 not out) beat St. Albans *lO2 on the first innings. Lancaster Park B 84 (Drake five lor 2.3, Hickford five for 27) beat West Christchurch-University A 57 on the first innings. THIRD GRADE A

Old Collegians 196 and 80 for five (Anderson five for 35, including hattrick) beat East Christchurch 107 and 156 (Partridge four for 23) by five wickets.

High School Old Boys 145 (Wicks 45; Lester six for 50) and 137 for five declared (Lester four for 46) beat West Christchurch-University B 80 (Roberts six for 19) and 97 outright. West Christchurch-University A 222 for four declared beat Technical Old Boys 92 and 20 (Bradshaw five for 9) by an innings and 110 runs. Lancaster Park 166 beat St. Albans 32 and 60 (Barnes four for 15) by an innings and 74 runs. Sydenham 197 and 123 for three declared beat Riccarton 111 and 147 (Anderson 65; Willoughby four for 27) outright. THIRD GRADE B West Christchurch-University 144 drew with Lancaster Park 115 for eight. Riccarton 166 (Morel 52) beat Sydenham 91 on the first innings. Old Collegians 121 for three (Wreaks 43 not out) beat Marist 116 (Calder 51 not out) on the first innings. THIRD GRADE C St. Bede's 64 and 176 for five (Hyndman 73 not out, Lennon 70 not out) beat Boys’ High School A 100 and 123 (Bradley five for 25) by five wickets. Boys’ High School B 224 beat Linwood High School 106 and 89 for eight on the first innings. St. Andrews 164 and 114 (Hawes four for 11) beat Technical College 144 (Dysart four for 30) on the first innings. Christ's College A 92 for six declared (Lowry four for 26) and 37 for one beat Christ's College B 87 on the first innings.

FOURTH GRADE A St. Albans 126 beat Marist 116 (McCarthy 49; Albone four for 12) on the first innings. Lancaster Park B 73 (Grundy five for 23) and 42 for six (Grundy five for 16) beat East Christchurch 64 and 34 (Miller five for 21) by four wickets.

West Christchurch-University 83 beat Lancaster Park A 71 on the first innings.

High School Old Boys 179 for three declared (MacPherson 105 not out. Belcher 53 not out) beat Technical Old Boys 55 (Belcher six for 23) and 55 (Aitken four for 15) by an innings and 69 runs.

FOURTH GRADE B Christ's College A 66 beat St. Bede's B 42 on the first innings. Boys' High School A 142 for six declared (Mitchell 40 not out) beat St. Bede's A 60 (Sinclair four for 8. Stonyer four for 22) and 43 (Stonyer six for 14) by an innings and .39 runs. Boys’ High School B 100 beat Christ’s College 52 (Edlin six for 3) and 13 (Edlin six for 2) by an innings and 35 runs.

Technical College 132 beat West High School 64 on the first innings.
