SUSPENSION OF JOCKEY
A fler the running of the Arundel Hack Handicap at the Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting at Orari on Saturday, A. H. Eastwood the rider of Riverwood, which finished second, was charged with causing? interference to Tamarisk, riddep by R. W. Gould, about a furlong and a quarter from the finish. After hearing the evidence of the jockeys and the stipendiary steward, Mr W. Freeman, and from its observations, the committtee decided that the charge was proved, and accordingly suspended Eastwood’s licence up to and including November 8. 1957.
A. Cowan, rider of Count Aven, and M. D. Alexander, rider of Harkville. in the Arundel Hack Handicap, were severely cautioned for starting from the wrong barrier positions.
An inquiry was held into the barrier behaviour of Shadrach, which took no part in the Wainui Stakes. After evidence had been ♦aken from the horse’s rider. C. Witlka. the trainer. R. H. Burns, and the stipendiary steward, the committee decided to recommend to the New Zealand Racing Conference that Shad*'s»ch be placed on the schooling list
