Besides Miss Campbell, Miss BL Cave, of Te Arona, who re-

turned a 79 and Mrs D. Steel, of Auckland, and Miss U. Wickham, of Tauranga, both 80s, handled the difficult conditions well yesterday afternoon.

Out in 41, Miss Campbell nad a five at the short, 3 third hole, but scored six bogeys altogether. A birdie 3 at the twelfth helped matters, but a two-over 6 at the thirteenth did not. She played two magnificent woods to the edge of the seventeenth green, putted short, but holed a splendid 12-footer for a 4. She threw away two strokes at the last. Needing a bogey 3 for 77, she put her tee shot to the left of the green, chipped short and then three-putted before a sympathetic gallery of about 150. The winner of this year’s South Auckland title, Mios Cave was out in 41 and home in 38 for a good 79.

but a birdie at the ninth enabled her to be out in 43. Only three bogeys were included in her homeward run and thus she finished with 85.
