Red Cross Honour Badges

Mrs Marmaduke Bethell and Mr Charles Buchanan were presented with Counsellor of Honour badges by the chairman (Mr A. E. Kincaid) at the quarterly meeting of delegates from North Canterbury sub-centres of the New Zealand Red Cross Society yesterday. This is the highest award the New Zealand Red Cross Society can bestow and there cannot be more than 25 living in New Zealand at one time. No more than five can be elected in New Zealand in one year. Mrs Bethel! has worked for the Red Cross in Culverden since 1915 and was a member of the executive of the North Canterburv centre for many years. Mr Buchanan has been treasurer of the North Canterbury centre for about 30 years.

Mrs V.’ Scott presided at the Gold Star Mothers’ Club The committee managed a well-stocked bring and buy stall, and a donation was made to the Save the Children Fund.
