Driven To Drink By Rock ’n’ Roll

Rock ’n’ roll had driven three middle-aged men to drink, Mr S. S. Preston, S.M., was told in the Magistrate’s Court, Wanganui, today.
When three men were charged with having -liquor in their possession in the vicinity of a dance hall at Upokongaro on August 24. their counsel (Mr F. J. Connell) said the playing of rock ’n’ roll music drove them outside to drink.
The men, who pleaded guilty, and were each fined £2, were Thomas Alexander Ness, aged 42, a factory foreman; James Morris, aged 45. a company manager; ano Lance Randall Welch, aged 46, a company manager.
