Rhythmonic, equal favourite for the Melbourne Cup, will have his first Australian start in the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick on September 14. His first race has been brought forward a fortnight because of his forward condition. N. Sellwood has been offered the mount on Rhythmonic in the Chelmsford Stakes (nine furlongs), but it is unlikely that he will accept. He already has an engagement to ride Prince Delville. Rhythmonic was not to have started until the weight-for-age Hill Stakes at Rosehill on September 28, but his trainer, C. Munro, changed his plans after he saw the stallion’s forward condition. . He is engaged in the Caulfield und Melbourne Cups, with 8-11 m both races. The Melbourne Cup is his main mission. The New Zealand-bred three-year-old Tulloch was heavily backed the Caulfield Cup today straight out, and was taken in doubles with his stablemate, Cardigan.
