Tramway Handicap At Randwick (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright
BRISBANE, August 29. Shahwan, a heavily-backed candidate for the big Epsom Handicap, will have his first Sydney start in the Tramway Handicap at Randwick on September 14. Shahwan is one of a big team of horses being taken to Sydney by the Brisbane trainer, Dick Roden, tomorrow. Roden recently bought the Randwick stables of the retired trainer, Dan Lewis, and he will settle in Sydney. Roden said today that Shahwan had done well since his unlucky fourth in the Doomben Cup in July. Shahwan will be ridden in all his spring engagements by the Brisbane apprentice, M. Schumacher. Baron Boissier will have his first start in the Chelmsford Stakes (nine furlongs) on September 14 and will run in the Hill Stakes (eight furlongs and a half) at Rosehill on September 28. Although the Metropolitan at Randwick on October 7 is Baron Boissier’s main Sydney mission, he will .also start in the Melbourne Cup, M which he ha* 9-2.
