A TEST SATELLITE.-An officer of the United States Naval Research Laboratory making ready a six-inch aluminium satellite tor vibration tests. This satellite is similar, but much smaller, than the ones to be launched into space during the International Geophysical Year. The small sphere contains miniature radio transmitters tor tracking. Attached to its surface are six protruding containers ’for solar batteries to test a possible solar power supply tor later satellites.
