(New Zealand Press Association) LONDON, August 1. Copper was quiet and the settlement price was £213 5s a ton. Tin was inactive and the settlement price was £745. Lead was steady and zinc barely steady.. Today’s quotations were as follows:
Otago Pig Council.—As a result of a meeting of the New Zealand Pig Council at Wellington on Wednesday, the Otago and Southland District Pig Council, which has functioned for 21 years, will go out of existence. Dunedin has been the council’s headquarters. There will now be four management committees in the South Island—-Nelson, West Coast, Canterbury and Otago-Southland. Two representatives from each of these bodies will form the South Island Pig Council.—-(P.A.)
