RUGBY LEAGUE IN NEW GUINEA
The Rugby League season recently opened in Port Moresby, New Guinea. The Papuan League has a five-year plan, its ground and grandstands at Boroko will cost about £40.000. This stand will include a ballroom.
Western Suburbs (Sydney) has arranged a flying trip to Port Moresby in September to play a Papuan 13. Gate takings for all matches at Port Moresby last season were £2639. The attendances for that season were 9700 Europeans and 25,000 natives. The natives take a keen interest in the game.
